God is our Refuge!

Psalm 34:8 Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in Him!

Where do we go when life takes us by surprise and we are desperate for help? This verse is a reminder to take refuge in Him. We trust God when things are good and we need to trust Him when things are bad.

When we lean on God during our most desperate life circumstances is when we will see his goodness the most. God shows up when we least expect it no matter what is going on around us. I have had moments in my life when I thought I would never be able to see the sunshine again and God brings something or someone to remind me just who He is and how much He loves me.

I took this picture when we were camping close to Atlanta, Georgia. It was a beautiful place to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the woods and lake around us.

A Dark Day

The world and life has moments of darkness that are overwhelming. Today I was reminded of that when I heard the pain of betrayal in someone I dearly love. These are the moments that I feel so powerless. I know there is nothing I can say or do to remove the disappointment that is such a part of this world.

This morning my devotional John 1 and verse 5 was a reminder to me that Christ is our light in the darkness of this life. I began to pray that in the midst of despair God would send His light in some way as He so often has in my own life.

My hope is built on nothing less that Jesus blood and righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest frame but wholly lean on Jesus name. On Christ the solid rock I stand All other ground is sinking sand. All other ground is sinking sand.

What I Like About Christmas!

John 3:16  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Christmas is one of my favorite times of year because of the festive decorations, parties and most people just seem to be in good spirits....I don't care for the shopping and spending money on things we would not normally purchase any other time of year but overall it is still one of my favorite holidays! With my kids and grand-kids I try to just spend time in celebration as much as possible and on the 25th I cook up a traditional southern breakfast.

This is something I have done all of their lives and it is the only tradition that we still carry on today. I am so grateful because it is a wonderful family time and we are in agreement to keep it going.  I feel it is the BEST part of our day together!

Some years my mother travels from Spain to spend the holidays with us so that makes it even more special. Also, I use as many family members things to add to the tradition such as my dads dishes, my grandmothers goblets & my mother n laws trays so their memories live on with us....It's just a magical time of year for us as a family ~

It is Christmas in the heart that puts Christmas in the air.
