What Are You Saying?

Written 2011: We are accountable for all our words and it can bless our life or curse our lives. That is a pretty powerful statement when you realize how important what you say is in your daily walk. I have heard people say, "it figures ~ always happens to me" and it does because they have said it and now they are living by their words. "Just my luck" is another term I have heard often when something goes wrong and because they have said it, now they are living their own words. Some of these sayings came about when we were children because someone uttered that curse and we believed those words to be true.

Stop being afraid of what could go wrong and think of what could go right.

God is our Refuge!

Psalm 34:8 Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in Him!

Where do we go when life takes us by surprise and we are desperate for help? This verse is a reminder to take refuge in Him. We trust God when things are good and we need to trust Him when things are bad.

When we lean on God during our most desperate life circumstances is when we will see his goodness the most. God shows up when we least expect it no matter what is going on around us. I have had moments in my life when I thought I would never be able to see the sunshine again and God brings something or someone to remind me just who He is and how much He loves me.

I took this picture when we were camping close to Atlanta, Georgia. It was a beautiful place to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the woods and lake around us.

A Dark Day

The world and life has moments of darkness that are overwhelming. Today I was reminded of that when I heard the pain of betrayal in someone I dearly love. These are the moments that I feel so powerless. I know there is nothing I can say or do to remove the disappointment that is such a part of this world.

This morning my devotional John 1 and verse 5 was a reminder to me that Christ is our light in the darkness of this life. I began to pray that in the midst of despair God would send His light in some way as He so often has in my own life.

My hope is built on nothing less that Jesus blood and righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest frame but wholly lean on Jesus name. On Christ the solid rock I stand All other ground is sinking sand. All other ground is sinking sand.
